Are you looking for a way to enhance your simulation experience by talking to ATC? Or perhaps flying with other pilots? Or even having an AI co-pilot? The following list displays groups and organizations to make that happen!
Pilotedge provides professional air traffic control for flight simulators. Work with live air traffic controllers 15 hours a day and engage your "flying brain" from home. See other aircraft, and hear other pilots on the radio. Put on your headset, dial up ground, and call for taxi. It's that easy. They also provide a series of ratings, the CAT ratings and I ratings which guide pilots from basic VFR through advanced IFR scenarios. Much of what I've learned has come from flying the various ratings!
Join the largest online aviation network, and interact with over 100,000 other virtual pilots and air traffic controllers all around the world!
The Bush League hosts a backcountry fly-in on the first Monday of every month! Each month provides you with a unique opportunity to explore something new and different. X-Plane and MSFS scenery is provided for the events! All Bush League flights take place on the VATSIM network, VATSIM membership in good standing is required.
The Virtual USA Flying Club is a general aviation focused flying club on the VATSIM network. The admin team hosts 4-5 GA style events per month. If you're looking to fly GA with a group, this one is for you! This group is based on Discord.
The Pilot Club is another VATSIM based club. This club focuses on various aspects of aviation, from bush flying, to airliner operations with a mix of general aviation. They are an authorized VATSIM training organization with the ability to issue pilot ratings on the VATSIM network.
Fly Shirley is your AI based co-pilot. Shirley can help you with anything from aircraft operations, practicing engine out scenarios, understanding regulations, provide training and even providing you information on a given area you're flying in! You'll never be alone with Shirley at your side!
The Boston Virtual ARTCC, which provides ATC services on the VATSIM network, offers a unique set of pilot training and ratings called 'Wings over New England', this self paced training guides pilots from VFR basics all the way up to advanced IFR scenarios. I attribute a lot of what I have learned to their rating system and happy to spread the word about them!
